Feast for the kestrel

mandag 6. september 2021
Today a quieter day
af Hanelie Sidhu

Hello all together,

Today was again a quieter day. Jonas and I ringed birds in the morning and I ringed my second bird, a Pied Flycatcher. Meanwhile, Simon went observing at the beach. Among others, he saw the seasons first Rock Pipit and a south going Merlin. After he was finishedand we closed the nets, we managed to replace an old net with united forces. For our hard work, we were rewarded with sandwiches, donated by the DOF-group, that arrived today. We ate outside in the sun and after a break, we went to a dune to watch birds there. We discovered nothing rare, but we could observe a kestrel for a long time, which sat on a mast directly in front of us and spit its prey, licking its claws afterwards.

After dinner, we went to the supermarket and on the way back, we collected Sebastian again.

Good night, see you tomorrow!

Todays ringed birds:

Willow Warbler (Phylloscopus trochilus) 1

Common Chiffchaff (Phylloscopus collybita) 5
