Purple Sandpiper and Little Stint

fredag 13. oktober 2023
af Joseph Stephan

Due to the strong winds, there was no ringing today. Louis, Andreas, and I headed to the Sabine-Bunker for the daily morning migration count. It turned out to be a slow morning with intermittent rain showers. In the standard time period, we saw 42 Eider Ducks (Ederfugl), one Purple Sandpiper (Sortgra Ryle) and two Arctic Skuas (Almindelig Kjove). After standard time Andreas and I headed to the station but Louis, the legend that he is, stayed at the bunker despite the slow migration and got rewarded with a European Storm-Petrel (Lille Stormsvale). You can view a comprehensive list of all observations here

After dinner, Anton, Antonia, Skat, and I went out night catching. We ringed two Dunlins (Islandsk ryle), one bar-tailed Godwit (Lille Kobbersneppe), one Purple Sandpiper (Sortgrå Ryle), and a Little Stint (Dværgryle)!!! It was an amazing adventure with excellent results, leaving everyone more than happy!
