Ringing:
In six and a half hours, 100 new birds were ringed today. 74 of these were Blackbirds “Solsort”. It was definitely the Blackbird “Solsort” record day of the season so far.
But also the Woodcock “Skovsneppe” record day. 2 in 3rd round at the lighthouse garden. If they get caught, it is often the first round, I did not expect them any more in third round. But I adore this bird, so it was a great surprise.

100 birds in November is actually pretty good, October was quite bad with low numbers, but November starts quite good for ringing. Hopefully it brings some more good days. With more Blackbirds “Solsort”… And Fieldfares could go down to the nets, too… Don´t mind more Woodcocks eighter… Of course, something else could also turn up… It´s not over yet…
Chung-Chi left the bird observatory today. She will first be a week Whale-watching in Norway, before she will go back to Taiwan. It was nice to have her here and we are whishing good luck with the Whales. And maybe some seabirds in Norway, too…
Just when Chung-Chi left, Lise arrived at the station. She was at Blåvand for some days in week 42 and will stay here for a long weekend.
Moth:
It´s nice with the low wind. Not for just ringing, but also for moths. At some point I have already thought, well, it´s over for this year. Windy nights did definitely not help.
Not so many individuals today, but seven, and all different, that is nice. I had them all here before, so was wondering which one to show. I decided for Autographa gamma “Gammaugle”, a common but actually quite pretty one and easy to recognize because of the gamma on the wings.
