Clouds of coal tits and rumors of a brown booby??
Morgen observation:
As always a great day in blåvand, but i must admit it was a bit boring today compared to the days before. In total we had roughly 450 meadow pippits and 140 Chaffinches. 3 grey wagtails, a white and 7 yellow. 60 Redthroated loons and only three wigeons!
The most exciting part of my day was around 19 when a brown booby was spotted in Esbjerg, only a 45 minutes drive from here! I yelled to the others that theres a rarity in the area and we instantly went through Dofbasen and Birdalarm to see if at had been seen again! No one had seen it since, but it was last seen flying northwest which means it could possibly pass by Blåvandshuk! Therefore Gustav, Mathilde, Anna Beluga and i went on a (very optimistic) mission to relocate it on the southern part of the observation area:)
Our hopes where high, but after an hour of waiting and the sun slowly setting we decided to head home for a late dinner. I still have high expectations that we might get it during the morning obs tomorrow!
- Me waiting for the brown booby to arrive
If it reappears in Esbjerg tomorrow we will go see it. But until then a hopeful goodnight from me and the birding gang at the most westen point in Denmark.

Ringmærkning:
After a few days with no ringing and alot of eager ringers waiting for the wind to finally die down, we had a very good day of ringing mainly coal tits! As we were collecting the first wave of coal tits from the nets, we could she see clouds of new young birds flying over! This gave our new ringers a great opportunity of practicing their extractions as we needed all hands on deck with so many busy nets! Our newest ringing trainee Anna Beluga got a great introduction into what it means to be a ringer and all the multitasking it implies, as she spend most days scribing and writing down all the data from the captured birds, that three people simultaniously screamed at her! (In a friendly way of course!)
-Mathilde, Gustav and Sverre taking a break while Lua, Lise and Anna are processing a bitey chaffinch!
With around 90 birds, mostly coal tits but also chaffinch, black cap, robin, blue tit, bullfinch and flycatcher, we had a really good and exiting day at last!
