Wryneck, the third!

Recapture of a last year breeding bird!

Weather: Temperature 8°; fresh breeze from Southwest (236°) 9 m/s. Visibility over 10 km. Clouded 5/8.

Bird ringing:

3 lesser whitethroat (Sylvia curruca – Gærdesanger - Klappergrasmücke)
3 Eurasian blackcap (Sylvia atricapilla – Munk - Mönchsgrasmücke),
4 common chiffchaff (Phylloscopus collybita – Gransanger - Zilpzalp),
1 European starling (Sturnus vulgaris - Stær - Star)

A total of 11 birds identified into 4 species. None of them was caught in the Helgoland trap (Blåvandrusen).

The recaptured Eurasian wryneck (Jynx torquilla – Vendehals - Wendehals) got its ring on the 25th of April 2017. It was one of the breeding wryneck here around.

Today Bent was out for the ringing and he will be this in the near future.

David Manstrup and Henrik Böhmer had a very good morning with bird monitoring. They spotted a yellow-billed loon (Gavia adamsii, also known as the white-billed diver - hvidnæbbede lom – Gelbschnabeltaucher). A Eurasian sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus – Spurvehøg -Sperber) passed by as I was talking to them.
